Central Institute of Fisheries Nautical and Engineering Training
Central Institute of Fisheries Nautical and Engineering Training was established in 1963 at Kochi to meet the trained manpower needs of ocean going fishing vessels and that of fishing industry. Later in 1968 one unit of institute was established in Chennai and one in Vizag in 1981.

Vessel Navigator, Marine Fitter
On the completion of the institutional training in the regular course (MFC & VNC) the trainees have to acquire qualifying sea service as well as Apprentice workshop service for appearing the respective competency examinations with MMD.

Placement Cell:
The institute also has a placement cell which do all needful through proper planning and correspondence with the Employment Agencies in order to explore the maximum possibility to place the passing out batches.
