Overview
The Bachelor of Dental Science (BDS) degree programme is an undergraduate course in the field of dentistry. This course helps an aspirant to become a dentist. it is a five-year course that is divided into four parts, each of one years’ duration followed by a year of internship.BDS course is focused on training students with knowledge and skills related to general dental practices to treat, prevent and diagnose oral diseases. During the course, students will learn about various treatments such as Oral Medicine and Radiology, Dental Materials, Surgical Procedures, periodontics, Oral Pathology, Dental Anatomy and Oral Histology and Community Dentistry. This course is available both full time and part time as per the choice of the students.
After the completion of the course, students need to do the 1 year internship programme. Some colleges offer the internship as the part of the course.
Admission Process:
Admission to this course is through a general, nationwide competitive examination. The All India PreMedical/PreDental Entrance Exam is common for both the MBBS and the BDS. The students who are waiting for their senior secondary examination results can also apply for this.
Further study option:
After completion of this course, students can join the PG course in dentistry (MDS). It's not mandatory to join the PG course, but it can help students in career enhancement and grabbing a good career opportunity.
Career Opportunities:
There is excellent career opportunities available for the aspirants in dental hospitals, nursing homes, health departments, the pharmaceuticals and the other companies those produce the dental health care product.
Eligibility:
The eligibility for this undergraduate course is scoring a minimum of 50% in 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English.Course Duration:
