Government College of Engineering and Ceramic Technology

The college was started in 1942 as the Bengal Ceramic Institute. Renamed to College of Ceramic Technology in 1962 and in 2005 it  renamed to Government  College of Engineering & Ceramic Technology. This is  the only institute that offers UG and PG course in ceramic technology in West Bengal. 

The institute has collaborated with  the reputed national and international for postgraduate, project and Ph.D programmes. The name of few are:

Besides other departmental laboratories, special mention is needed for sophisticated and specialized labs developed such as the Thin Film lab, Nano-Materials and Sol-gel Lab of the Ceramic Department and VLSI, Image Processing, GIS and the Computer Vision Lab of the Information Technology department.
